FALL 2007 APPLICATION DEADLINE - October 15, 2007

The Basil and JoAnn Boritzki endowment has established two scholarships of approximately $2,500 (exact amount to be determined) to be awarded annually to one full-time male graduate student and one full-time female graduate student in recognition of their academic achievement. To be eligible for consideration, a nominee must meet the eligibility criteria listed below.

ELIGIBILITY

1.     Candidates for this scholarship must have the intention to enter, and/or remain in the teaching profession in publicly-supported educational institutions, either K-12 or college teaching.

2.     The graduate student must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or above on the most recent 4 semesters of course work.

3.     The graduate student must be enrolled full-time during the Fall 2007 semester and the Spring 2008 semester. Full-time is defined as nine semester hours of graduate credit for non-graduate assistants or six semester hours of graduate credit for graduate assistants.

APPLICATION MATERIALS

A completed application shall consist of the following materials:

1.     A cover sheet listing full name and social security (student ID) number, program enrolled in and mailing address.    

2.     A personal statement written by the nominee describing goals, interests, and achievements as they relate to his/her academic career and qualifications for the scholarship.

3.     A copy of the nominee's undergraduate and graduate transcripts to date. Unofficial copies of transcripts are acceptable.

Completed applications must be received by the Graduate College, 306 Carrington Hall, no later than October 15, 2007 for full consideration. 
 

All applications will be screened before being reviewed by the Graduate Council Graduate Scholarship Committee to insure compliance with these provisions.  The Committee will review all applications and recommend one male and one female graduate student to Dr. Frank Einhellig, Graduate Dean, to receive these awards.  Students will be notified in writing of the decision.
