According to a proclamation from Governor Matt Blunt, Missouri State University and other universities in the state will be celebrating Graduaate Education Week, April 14 -19, 2008. This week will highlight achievements of graduate programs and students over the past year. Highlights of this week can be found at: http://www.gradedweek.org/calendar.htm.

• Official Proclamation for Graduate Education Week

This week was kicked-off with the Graduate Interdisciplinary Forum (IDF) at Missouri State University on April 12, 2008. During this event, 97presentations (50 posters and 47 orals) were made involving more than 100 graduate students. Approximately 40 graduate faculty and administrators served as judges and selected 8 oral and 7 poster presentations for special recognitions. This individual competed for top honors.

In addition to the presentation awards, several other people were honored during the first award ceremony: 

• Outstanding Thesis Advisor Award - Dr. Wayne Mitchell

• Outstanding Graduate Mentor - Dr. Cindy Wilson-Hail

• Distinguished Thesis Award - David Rice (Religious Studies)

• Basil and JoAnn Boritzki Scholarship Recipients  - Rebecca Atkins (Music) and Brian Gall (Biology)

• Outstanding Administrative Graduate Assistant - Lindsay Goodwin (Political Science)

• Outstanding Research Graduate Assistant - Craig Meyer (English)

• Outstanding Teaching Graduate Assistant - Mary Maupin (English) and Katie Striley (Communication)
