Program description

A non-degree-granting certificate designed for practicing K-12 music teachers. The certificate can be completed through online courses, on-campus courses or a combination of the two.

Admission criteria

This certificate is available to all with demonstrated interest in music education, particularly currently employed music teachers. Admission requirements include an undergraduate degree in music in which they earned a GPA of at least 2.75, a resume, two letters of recommendation and statement of teaching and professional goals. English language proficiency as determined by International Services, or successful completion of the ELI is required.

Students who wish to pursue a certificate after earning a Master of Music degree must do so with no overlap of course content.

Students who complete some or all of the certificate with a grade of B- or better in each course may be admitted to the Master of Music program after going through the full application process. The certificate credits taken will count toward the requirements for the MM degree.
