Graduation Information for Graduate Students

Get graduation-ready by reviewing the information below. Remember to meet with your advisor or contact the Graduate College to determine if you have met all the necessary requirements for graduation.

Research and comprehensive exam result deadlines

  • For Summer 2026:
    • The last day to submit your thesis to the Graduate College on the Brightspace site: July 13, 2026.
    • The last day to submit your Seminar Report Form to the Graduate College (for required programs): July 13, 2026.
    • The last day for departments to notify the Graduate College of Comprehensive exam results: July 22, 2026.
  • For Fall 2026:
    • The last day to submit your thesis to the Graduate College on the Brightspace site: November 16, 2026.
    • The last day to submit your Seminar Report Form to the Graduate College (for required programs): November 16, 2026.
    • The last day for departments to notify the Graduate College of Comprehensive exam results: December 4, 2026.
    • The final submission of all Fall 2026 thesis and dissertation requirements: January 15, 2027. 
  • For Spring 2027:
    • The last day to submit your thesis to the Graduate College on the Brightspace site: April 16, 2027.
    • The last day to submit your Seminar Report Form to the Graduate College (for required programs): April 16, 2027.
    • The last day for departments to notify the Graduate College of Comprehensive exam results: May 6, 2027.
    • The final submission of all Spring 2027 thesis and dissertation requirements: June 11, 2027. 
  • For Summer 2027:
    • The last day to submit your thesis to the Graduate College on the Brightspace site: July 12, 2027.
    • The last day to submit your Seminar Report Form to the Graduate College (for required programs): July 12, 2027.
    • The last day for departments to notify the Graduate College of Comprehensive exam results: July 28, 2027.
    • The final submission of all Summer 2027 thesis and dissertation requirements: August 13, 2027. 

Application for graduation

Click on the "Graduation Application and Status Review" link in the "Graduation & Commencement" card in your My Missouri State. The deadline to have your name in the commencement program is March 31 for spring commencement and October 31 for fall commencement.

Students graduating in summer semester but wanting to walk in the spring commencement should apply for SUMMER graduation. In that application, you can choose to participate in the spring or fall commencement ceremony.

Receiving your graduate certificate

Click on the "Graduation Application and Status Review" link in the "Graduation & Commencement" card in your My Missouri State. The deadline to have your name in the commencement program is March 31 for spring commencement and October 31 for fall commencement.
